Inquiry publishes updates as investigation progresses
The Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry has published several new documents today, all of which are important to its investigations. These include:
Impact hearings
The Inquiry's Health and Social Care Impact Hearings commence on 24 October 2023 at 10am.
The detailed timetable for the first two days, as well as the livestreams, are now available on the website, which you will find on the links below:
Day 1 - Tuesday 24 October
Day 2 - Wednesday 25 October
Timeline of key dates
The Inquiry has published a timeline of key dates from the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland.
This timeline is predominantly based on data provided by the Scottish Parliament. It does not represent the final opinion of the Inquiry, nor will the Inquiry’s investigations be determined by this data.
Additional academic research
The Inquiry has commissioned independent experts to carry out academic research into the areas of investigation in its Terms of Reference to inform its work.
The Inquiry published scoping research in June 2022, which covered the period under investigation up to April 2022. Further research has been commissioned to cover the entire period the Inquiry is investigating, up to 31 December 2022, as well as any additional areas identified as important.
Human rights-based approach
The Inquiry has also published a policy statement setting out the human rights-based approach it will adopt while undertaking its work and how it will act in a person-centred and trauma-informed way. A separate statement on equalities is being developed and will be published in due course.
Rule 9 - Guidance Note
This Guidance Note sets out the procedure for questioning witnesses at the Inquiry's Health and Social Care Impact Hearings.
