Inquiry publishes supplementary academic research report

The Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry has published further academic research relating to its education and certification investigative portfolio.

This new report is a comparative study of approaches to the closure and reopening of schools in Scotland and various comparator countries during the pandemic.

Academic research reports are one of several sources of information the Inquiry will consider before issuing its findings. They represent the views of their authors.

Nothing in them is binding on the Inquiry and they should not be seen to pre-empt the Inquiry’s eventual conclusions and recommendations.

The Inquiry will consider the full range of available evidence on the matters discussed, including any subsequently published studies, which may come to different conclusions.

As is the case with all commissioned advice and research, the Inquiry Chair will have regard to all relevant material. He will assess it and afford it the weight he considers appropriate in all circumstances.
